Being a mom alone is tiring, but working (whether in your own business or in a corporate company) and being a mom at the same time can be exhausting. But sometimes moms have this “mom guilt” whenever they pamper themselves. Nevertheless, rejuvenating yourself is necessary if you want to be able to function properly and at full capacity for your work and family.

Still, there’s other little things you can do with your spare time. Instead of resting, an extra minute in a mom’s life sometimes goes to either picking up the toys, stitching or folding some clothing, or some little matter. There’s always something to do.

For a mom, every cent and every minute matters. Worry not; there are ways to pamper yourself without breaking the bank or spending a lot of time. Here are nine simple ways to spoil yourself:

1. Aromatherapy Bath

One of the things a woman greatly misses after she has kids is a long bath. Soaking yourself in the tub is such a luxury when you have kids. With kids, a quick shower is sometimes not even quick enough! How in the world can you do an aromatic bath? Do it when the kids are asleep. Whether it’s their afternoon nap or you tucked them to bed for the night, it’s a good time to spare for yourself. I know there must be something that you think you ought to do, but come on, you’re not going to do this every spare time! This is just once this week, might even be once this month, or once this year! Give yourself a break.

Essential oils that help reduce stress and anxiety are lavender, bergamot, orange, frankincense, rose and Roman chamomile. Peppermint oil is also good for rejuvenation, but it is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding moms. Finding the right combination is tricky. Those who have knowledge with essential oils can easily find the right mix, but if you don’t have the time to learn about it, you can easily purchase premade bath oils mix. Bath bombs are essential oils and butters that have been pre-mixed for you; all you need to do is drop the bath product in your warm water bath and you’re good to go.

2. Get the three minute massage

The usual one hour massage is such a luxury that moms usual don’t go for it. One hour? The kids would be screaming. But three minutes? Oh that’s something you can definitely do. Get that three minute chair massage after you’re done with the groceries (or even before). You won’t believe how that helps soothe the knots in your shoulders and back.

If you can’t find one of those chair massages, you can always visit a hair and nail salon. They usually offer short massages for the price of a dollar a minute.

3. Get your nails done

While you’re at the salon, why don’t you get your nails done? Nothing better than clean, polished nails in your hands and feet (alright maybe just your feet, sometimes polished nails in your hands can hinder you from doing some stuff around the home).

4. Watch something from Netflix

You can either watch a movie or one episode of a series you truly enjoy. I would recommend a romantic comedy to lift your mood and make you feel happy after watching. Don’t go for the heavy drama type or you’ll end up feeling heavy or depressed for the rest of the day. Remember, the goal is to rejuvenate yourself.

5. Give yourself a No-Tech time

Get away from technology for a little bit. No TV, cell phone or laptop. Go to your patio or your bedroom and just have some quiet time for yourself. Try your best not to think of the work that you have to do or the budget that you have to manage. Just clear your head. Close your eyes for a few minutes if you must.

6. Use an overnight face mask

There are a lot of benefits of using a face mask. It hydrates the skin, helps get rid of acne and fine lines and refreshes your facial skin. When you wake up in the morning and remove the mask, your face will feel cool and smooth. Not only did you feel refreshed, you will look younger, too! Make sure to apply the overnight face mask at least 30 minutes before you go to bed, to set the mask. This is necessary especially if you are the type who tosses and turns while asleep.

7. Get yourself a cooling pillow

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night to flip your pillow because it’s getting too warm? This is very common because the head expels more heat than the rest of the body. Sometimes the heat builds up in the pillow that it becomes uncomfortable. This uncomfortable feeling interrupts your sleep. If you want to be able to sleep comfortably and without interruption, getting yourself one of the top cooling pillows available in the market today would be a great way to pamper yourself. And it’s not going to be just a one-time deal because you’ll be able to use your cooling pillow for a long time. Trust me; you’ll sleep like a baby.

8. Light up a scented candle

Scented candles are a great way to improve the smell of the house while helping you relax. The scent can help improve your mood, as well as your kids’. It might even help your kids sleep easily and soundly during nap time. If you have hyperactive toddlers though, make sure you place the candle out of their reach.

9. Listen to Solfeggio tones and nature sounds

Solfeggio tones are often referred to as healing frequencies. When combined with nature sounds, you will find that not only do sore muscles seem to loosen and relax, you will have renewed energy to do other tasks. Retail therapy or a shopping spree is not the only way to pamper yourself (plus that’s gotta be expensive, which let’s face it, is not practical). These are just little ways to pamper yourself, but you can be sure these are effective when you do it regularly.
